The Nordanstig Canoe Route
på StrömsbrukThe Nordanstig Canoe Route is approximately 60 km in total and consists of many different types of water. Large and small lakes, narrow creeks and rushing rapids make the trip diverse and fun.
It's a quite demanding trip with about 15 lifts and/or portages, but the effort is well worth it and it can be good to strech your legs every now and then. A canoe cart will come in very handy.
The entire trip can be paddled in two days but three days is to recommend. Many choose to take even more time so they may enjoy the breathtaking nature of the northern Hälsingland and do some fishing and swimming.
It is also possible to paddle certain parts of the route. Some popular launching spots are Hasselasjön, Älgered and Bergsjö. The first part from Ässjö to Hassela is tranquil, beautiful and child friendly. The last part from Harmånger to Strömsbruk is a scenic and, at times, very exciting trip, which requires at least four hours to complete.
The water level determines how doable certain sections are. As a rule; - the more water, the more fun.
The Nordanstig Canoe Route is a unique nature experience regardless if you choose to paddle the entire route or just part of it. Exciting waters of varied types make swimming holes and excellent fishing. With the Nordanstig fishing licence you can fish the whole route.
