On October 4, the County Administrative Board decided to designate an area known as Kransarna—located approximately 6 km west of Bergsjö—as a nature reserve. Kransarna covers an area of ​​about 76 hectares consisting of valuable natural forest, primarily pine.

The area is situated on the Kransarna hill and consists of valuable natural forest, predominantly pine. Most of the pines are between 100 and 150 years old, though there are scattered instances of pines aged 200–300 years and spruces around 200 years old. There are no trails in the area, allowing you to roam freely through the forest.

Valuable to many
The red-listed lichen *Usnea longissima* (fringed horsehair lichen) is found here in significant quantities; other species discovered during the County Administrative Board’s survey include *Bryoria nadvornikiana* (violet-grey horsehair lichen), *Cladonia parasitica* (fence-rail cladonia), and *Phellinus pini* (pine bracket fungus).

Wildlife in Kransarna
The area boasts rich birdlife; for instance, the capercaillie has been observed here. Nearby lie the Igeltjärnsmyran and Björnåsen nature reserves, which are home to numerous nesting species, including ducks and wading birds.
