More than 2000 archaeological sites have been found in Nordanstig. You can visit them, some are easier to find than others.

One of the ancient monuments is a rune stone located in Jättendal at the cemetary. It was made during the 11th century by a woman, whish was very unusual.

When you visit the Tourist Information Centre in Jättendal you will get the map of Cultural Heritage of Sörfjärden. There will be information about the agriculture, the fishing, the manor house, the granary, the railway, the sawmill, the showground and the port.

Take a step back in time and you will feel amazed by the people who once lived here.
