Summer in Nordanstig - Hälsingland, Sweden

During summer, our coast comes to life and offers nice food at our restaurants and coffeshops, comfortable accommodation and last but not least a wide range of different activities.

You can go on a tour along our coastal roads and visit many lovely locations; "The Maiden Coast" - goes from Gävle in the south to Ragvaldsnäs in the north. Alternatively, the "Coastal Road" - starting in Jättendal, and stretches to our landscape neighbours in the north. Along these roads, you will find sites frequently, with everything from experiences, sights, ancient monuments, hiking trails, cultural trails, shops with high-quality handicrafts and excellent golf in Sörfjärden, etc.

Our culinary Nordanstig has three fine, summer-open restaurants along the coast; Restaurant & Cafe Måsen in Stocka, Restaurant Sjömärket in Mellanfjärden and "En liten sjökrog" in Sörfjärden. We truly recommend these!

For families with children, the coastal stretch offers sea bathing at several sites - one of Northern Sweden´s longest sea bathing beaches is in Sörfjärden! A must for the children (or for the whole family for that matter...) is our Enchanted Forest in Mellanfjärden. A family adventure and theatrical experience, where you as visitors stroll at your own pace and meet the various characters of the forest.

If you are looking for accommodations, we can offer; hotel rooms, Bed & Breakfast, a private cottage or camping cottages, apartments or hostels. And not to forget Caravan sites. Our coastline offers something for every preference...

Our inland - a journey through history and local culture - in the present

Do you want to discover our inland area and places? "Mittpunktsvägen" starts in Mellanfjärden and goes west towards Sweden's geographical center, Flataklacken, one mile south of Torpshammar in Medelpad. On the way, there will be many interesting and beautiful places, Gränsfors Bruks Axes & Forging, Gränsfors flower pot factory, Hazeliusgården in Älgered, Gräsåsen's Garden Cafe and old Hälsingland farm Ersk-Matsgården, Hassela golf club and the Adventureland in Hassela.

Why not paddle through our destination? Our canoe trail runs from Ässjö in Hassela, all the way out to the coast via our streams and waterways (with the exception of a few lifts). If you need to lend life jackets, they can be found at Sörfjärden camping and Mellanfjärden camping. Or go hiking our walking trail "Vallstigen" that runs between Gnarp and Hassela, where you pass many well-preserved old settlings, bathing spots and exciting nature...

For families with children, there are many nice lakes for swimming and beaches during the summer, and once in Hassela it is a must to visit Hassela Adventureland, with playgrounds and heated pools, coffeshop and play castle etc. Horseback riding tours is offered for the whole family at Halls Gård and shorter try-on sessions for smaller children. If you like fishing, you have come to the right place. Many fine lakes (and the sea) allow you to fish for sea trout, zander, trout, char, rainbow trout, grayling, pike, perch and more.

Accommodation during the summer period in Hassela is our hostels in Franshammar and another in the center of the village. Then luxurous Pensionat Hassela is also centrally located. Finally, You will find Camping Caravan Club by Hasselasjön, right next door to Hassela Äventyrsland.
